Employment Opportunities
From time to time, the Bankruptcy Administrator's office will hire personnel to
fulfill its mission. Unlike many other federal agencies, the office does
not use the Office of Personnel Management to meet its human resources' needs.
The entire employment process is handled "in-house". In addition to the
official posting of positions, we will post here any available positions, requisite qualifications and application procedures.
REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO
CHAPTER 7 TRUSTEE PANEL
The U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator for the Eastern District of North Carolina is seeking applications from persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the panel of trustees who administer cases filed under chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. Persons appointed to the panel will be responsible for administering chapter 7 cases filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Chapter 7 trustees receive compensation and reimbursement for expenses, in each case in which they serve, pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 326 and § 330. Payment of compensation is dependent on availability of assets in each case. To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must possess strong administrative, financial and interpersonal skills. Fiduciary experience and familiarity with the bankruptcy area is preferred. A successful applicant will be required to undergo a background check and must qualify to be bonded.
Although chapter 7 trustees are not federal employees, appointments are made consistent with
federal Equal Opportunity policies, which prohibit discrimination in employment. This request, a list of qualifications, a reference form, and an application may be found below. Completed applications should be sent to karen_cook@nceba.uscourts.gov. Applications should be received on or before September 30,
2020.
